As with many other holidays and traditions Montreal participates in Canadian Thanksgiving different than the rest of the country. Called action de grace in Quebec the English-speaking population in the province is more likely to carry on with the holiday than the French Canadians. Unlike in the US Thanksgiving in Canada is not synonymous with Christmas shopping or watching sports.
In the province of Quebecand Montreal specificallyits actually not even that popular. The French-speaking regions call it Action de Grâce translated as action of grace and unlike in the rest of the country you probably wont. In 2020 it will take place on Monday October 12.
